April 22, 2024Manufacturers of cannabinoid-based productsIf you're a manufacturer of cannabinoid-based products, perhaps you're looking for a raw material that's both versatile and affordable? CBD isolate isolate is a serious candidate!
In this file, find all the information and data you need before ordering wholesale CBD crystals.
CBD isolate: what is it?
Isolat, distillate, crude, mother liquor ... There are so many cannabinoid extracts that it's easy to get lost! For those who aren't sure what CBD isolate is, here's a quick catch-up.
Appearance
CBD isolate is easily identifiable, as it is the only extract that comes in the form of in the form of white powder crystals. It is also referred to as CBD crystals. This immaculate appearance is proof of its purity. In fact, CBD isolate is a well-known and sought-after raw material for its its high cannabidiol concentrationclose to 100%.
In short, isolate is - literally - a concentrate of CBD molecules.
Key features and comparison
To illustrate the uniqueness of CBD isolate, here's a little comparison chart.
Composition
% CBD
Terpenes
Applications
As you can see, CBD isolate is distinguished by its high CBD content, the absence of any other cannabinoids, and the absence of terpenes, making it odorless. It is therefore imperative to
ortant to know that there is also cannabinol isolate cannabinol (CBN) as well as cannabigerol cannabigerol (CBG)two minor cannabinoids sought after in the formulation of wellness products.
How is CBD isolate made?
To choose a quality CBD isolate, it's important to keep in mind the main steps involved in its manufacture:
1️⃣ Shredding hemp flowers
2️⃣ Extraction of cannabinoids and terpenes. The result is what we call "crude". Please note that there are different extraction techniquesthe best-known and most widely used in the industry is supercritical CO2 extraction. At Green Exchange, we also use bioethanol extraction, an organic solvent that enables us to obtain organic extracts.
3️⃣ Winterization. Crude is rich in cannabinoids and terpenes, but also contains undesirable substances such as vegetable fat and chlorophyll. To eliminate these, ethanol is added to the solution before it is brought to a very low temperature (between -30°C and -40°C). The ethanol is then removed.
4️⃣ Decarboxylation. As you probably know, CBD flowers do not contain CBD, they contain CBDa, its acid form. To obtain CBD, CBDa must be heated to 110/130°C.
5️⃣ Distillation. At this stage, the extract is rich in CBD, but also contains minor cannabinoids and terpenes. Distillation allows us to target a particular cannabinoid.
6️⃣ Insulation. To obtain a highly concentrated extract, an additional refinement step is required. The result is an extract over 99% pure.
What products can be made with CBD isolate?
As we have already mentioned, CBD isolate is particularly versatile in terms of industrial uses. It can be added as is - without any further processing - to the formulation of most of your products.

CBD oil
CBD oil is obtained by adding cannabinoid extract to a base vegetable oil most often hemp oil. As you know, there are several types of CBD oil:
- Full spectrum CBD oilsCBD oils contain all the molecules derived from hemp flowers. They are generally obtained from crude or distillate;
- Broad spectrum oilswhich contain no THC. They are also obtained by adding crude or distillate, the difference being that these extracts contain no THC upstream;
- Finally, there are isolate-based oils such as CBD oil (which contains exclusively CBD), or CBG+CBD oil, or CBD+CBN oil, and so on.
As you can see, isolates can be used to produce oils with an innovative and varied composition. Note that it can also be added to the composition of a full or broad spectrum oil to increase CBD concentration.
Enriched resins
As you know, cannabis resin (also known as hash or hashish) is obtained by sieving, or expressing (there are several methods), the flowers (of CBD, as this is a legal product).
Most resins manufactured in this way have have a CBD content limited content of the flowers used. Generally between 10 and 15%. The addition of isolate to increase the CBD content content of your resin, without altering its organoleptic characteristics or texture. It's also possible to make resins rich in CBG or CBN.
E-liquids with CBD
There are several ways to obtain CBD e-liquid. One is to adding isolate to a base e-liquid. This process is extremely simple to carry out and produces a highly concentrated CBD vape product.
Note that this manufacturing method is suitable if you want to make CBD e-liquids that don't smell or taste like hemp. the smell and taste of hemp. However, if you want to make e-liquids that allow the consumer to appreciate the flavor of CBD flowers, then we recommend you turn to distillate, and more specifically to crystal-resistant distillate.
Cosmetics, food and pharmaceutical products
Finally, CBD isolate is particularly prized for the manufacture of cosmetics and food products. As we have already mentioned, this extract is totally odourlessIt does not alter the smell or taste of the products to which it is added. Nor does it alter their textureThis is particularly interesting in the case of edibles and beauty products.
Moreover, thanks to its purity, CBD isolate enables extremely precise dosageThis makes it an ideal raw material for the formulation of sensitive products such as cosmetics, soothing balms and capsules.
How much do CBD crystals cost?
Although its production requires both sophisticated equipment and skilled labor, CBD isolate remains an affordable raw material in terms of price. Indeed, wholesale CBD isolate costs less than 1000 euros/kg. It is also generally 200 to 300 euros/kg cheaper than distillate.

Buying isolate in bulk: what are the quality criteria?
Isolate is a virtually indispensable raw material for the manufacture of CBD products. While price is obviously an important criterion, it's also important to make sure of product quality. That said, this is not necessarily an easy task.
Here's how to choose an isolate according to 4 key criteria.
#1. A French wholesale CBD isolate supplier
If you choose your CBD isolate wholesaler solely on the basis of price per kg, then it's possible that your quest will take you beyond the borders of France, or even Europe. Indeed, for a variety of reasons (which we won't go into here), CBD products from our neighbors are - as a general rule - less expensive than those made in France. cheaper than those made in France.
However, working with a French CBD isolate supplier isolate has many advantages.
The first, legalis that this partnership between French companies reduces the risk of non-compliance. As you know, the rules governing hemp-derived products in France differ from those in other EU countries.
The second concerns logistics You considerably reduce delivery times and transport costs, as well as the risks and hazards involved in shipping your isolate.
Finally, buying a French CBD isolate is above all a guarantee of safety.
#2. Isolate purity
As we've said on several occasions, isolates are characterized by their purity. It is therefore essential to ensure its composition. To do this, you need to request the results of laboratory analyses. Make sure that they have been carried out on the batch you are about to buy, and also that the authenticity of the document.
Analyses not only verify the cannabidiol content of the isolate, but also the absence of any potentially harmful residues. the absence of any potentially harmful residues.
#3. Origin of flowers used for extraction
Just as in the kitchen, the quality of the ingredients used to make hemp extract is paramount. In this case, however, as this is an extremely refined product extremely refined and terpene-freethis is not necessarily the most important criterion to take into account.
However, for ethical (and marketing) reasons, it may be worthwhile to give preference to manufacturers who use raw materials that are of French and organic origin. To be sure of the origin of the flowers used for extraction, don't hesitate to ask for a certificate of traceability.
#4. Elaboration method
Finally, the last key criterion to take into account concerns the production technique. Once again, for ethical (and marketing) reasons, it may be worth choosing an isolate obtained in the "cleanest" way possible.
Supercritical CO2 extraction, for example, is a relatively environmentally-friendly method in that the CO2 used is recycled. The use of bioethanol enables us to obtain a potentially 100% bio-based product, in the sense that it is a natural, organic solvent.
However, it's important to bear in mind that cannabinoid extraction is a complex business, and that a sound knowledge of organic chemistry is essential. knowledge of organic chemistry are required to truly understand (and judge) the elaboration method used.
That's why, at Green Exchange, our expert chemists are available to answer all your questions.
