All about water-soluble CBD
May 28, 2024Cryogenic ethanol extraction: how does it work?
October 22, 2024As aplayer in the hemp industry, the evolution of the legal framework for cannabinoids is one of our main concerns. Rather than remain on the sidelines and passively suffer the consequences of dysfunctional government decisions, we recently decided to join UIVEC, one of the leading unions for hemp professionals.
On this occasion, we invite you to discover UIVEC's values and the reasons why Paul and Thibaut, founders of Green Exchange, decided to join the union.
What is UIVEC?
The Union des Industriels pour la Valorisation des Extraits de Chanvre was founded in 2021, at a time when the legal status of CBD was particularly unclear.
As a reminder, this was the time of the famous Kanavape affair and the decree of December 30, 2021, which marked the start of a long legal journey for all those involved in the French hemp extract industry.
Who is this union for?
UIVEC brings together all professionals in the hemp value chain. This means :
- Researchers and analysis laboratories;
- Farmers: producers of CBD flowers, but also of raw materials (building materials, textiles, etc.);
- Manufacturers and wholesalers, such as Green Exchange;
- Brands of products containing hemp extracts (cosmetics, food products, raw materials, etc.);
- Resellers.
In addition to the CBD sector, UIVEC also actively supports all entities linked to the development of medical cannabis in France. For information, an experiment on the use of medical cannabis involving over 3,000 patients is currently underway. It is due to end in early 2025, extending access to therapeutic cannabis to thousands of people.
Green Exchange, as a cannabinoid extraction hub, wholesaler and supplier of raw materials (isolates, distillates, crude, water-solubles, etc.) is perfectly placed among the many members of UIVEC.
UIVEC missions
UIVEC's main objective is to "represent the voice of the industry's players to the public authorities and build a regulatory environment favorable to the development of a market for hemp extracts in France".
To this end, the syndicate's missions are organized around the following axes:
- Legal watch and promotion of a relevant legal framework, in line with market requirements at European level. For the record, a few months ago, THCa appeared on the list of banned cannabinoids (as part of a decision on neo-cannabinoids). UIVEC reacted immediately, notifying decision-makers that the presence of THCa in hemp flowers was inevitable, and that such a ban would put an end to the entire industry.
- Training healthcare professionals in the use of therapeutic cannabis and hemp extracts. UIVEC has become a Qualiopi-certified organization to actively support the transition to widespread use of medical cannabis in France.
- Facilitate networking between hemp farmers through the creation of the Collège des Producteurs, a national network whose membership is free and open to all.
- Inform industry players on all aspects of hemp valorization : legal framework, scientific advances, innovations, etc. UIVEC regularly organizes congresses and webinars to fortify networking between players, and provide information from experts.
Green Exchange and UIVEC: values we share
We chose UIVEC because we know that this union has been actively defending our interests - and those of all players in the industry - since the beginning of the CBD era in France. Although the UIVEC team is discreet about its actions and the work behind each decision and decree, we know what they're made of at decisive moments.
We also share the view that education is one of the keys to the future of our business. Indeed, we believe it's crucial that economic players, consumers and decision-makers are provided with clear information and explanations about cannabis and cannabinoids.
In our view, one of the keys to a properly regulated cannabis market lies in overcoming the confusion that has surrounded cannabis since the 1960s .
Finally, we share UIVEC's interest in the therapeutic use of cannabis. We too advocate simplified, expanded and informed access to medical cannabis.
Now you know why we chose this particular union. There are others, and whatever they are, it's important to choose one. We'll spare you our arguments, which can be summed up in one simple formula: L'union fait la force, les amis/amies.
